Do they do this or is she ill?

Just brought them home today, she was running around, eating drinking whole nine yards and she appears to just be sleeping but she isn't under the heat plate with the others (She IS right next to it though). Ambient room temp is about 75. Is this something they sometimes do, just crash out anywhere like puppies do sometimes? First time chick mom so I'm curious

Yes they sometimes do that, but I've only seen it when chicks have a heat lamp. This does not occur when they have a MHP style brooder. (For more info on that topic, check out the article and thread in @Blooie 's signature.

Yes that is normal. It may be a bit too warm for her under the lamp.

Would you please enlighten me as to the difference between the heat plate and the heating pad other then one is obviously heating pad in a towel covered in press n seal and the other is a plate that emits heat pretty much the same way. Do they both not heat the chicks from the top by them pressing their backs to it without the major risk of fire and constant light that a heat lamp causes? What other differences are there (other then cost obviously)
