I was reading some threads and got the immpression that if my chickens have worms id see them in the eggs...is that true? Also how can i worm them naturally or home made i bouaght some stuff and read on it to not even use on egg producing chickens. how can i tell if they have worms is what i need to know right now i guess....Thanks for any advice.

It is rare to see them in the eggs; they are different body cavities so something abnormal has to happen. They can even have a heavy infestation without seeing them in the poop, but that would be the more normal place. Many vets will do a fecal smear on a sample for a reasonable fee, although a negative fecal doesn't mean there are no worms. Many people worm them routinely, though others don't at all.

Chemical wormers intended for goats, cows, etc.. are the only way to kill all worms. You have to toss the eggs for a few weeks. There are natural wormers that reduce the load but will not kill them all. It's just something you have to read up on, then make your own choice.

If you post the chemical and brand name of the product you bought, we may be able to tell you whether people use it on chickens.

okay :) the wormer is called Wazine on the front it says for pigs turkeys and chickens, The person at the store said this was what they had and of course i noticed the warning about feeding it to chickens who will ever produce eggs for human consumption. My chicken hardley give us any eggs at all so im now exploring what could cause this. My eggs do not have worms and they have fresh water every day and plenty of food they run my yard all day (huge space)so i was going to worm they as a precaution i would love to do this naturally if that is possible. Thankyou for any advice

Use Fossile Shell Flour. Food Grade it is a natural wormer and i mix it right in their feed with no problem. It is food grade so it is safe to use on humans. It can be used as a dust for lice and mites as all. Can be used on dogs cat horses and other livestock to repel ticks and fleas. It is also know as Dieatamous Earth ( not spelled right I know) But make sure it is FOOD GRADE. I have used it for years. I love the stuff non of my animals have ever had a flea or tick. Check with your feed store to get it. I pay 35 dollars for a fifty pound bag so it is cheap as well.
