i have 3 bantam cockerels crowing loudly right now that seem to crow on the hour, every hour, or so my DH says since he's been home. the 4th one is still just learning to crow so i can handle that one right now (cute little bugger that he is!)
unfortunately, i live residential and have to keep these 3 from annoying the neighbors when they crow too early in the morning. i was keeping them in the house so it didn't bother anyone but now i've tried to move the one boy i want to keep for breeding out to my garage coop. (1 other is a pet i'm keeping inside with me, the other 2 i have tried to re-home but no takers yet!)
anyone know of good insulation or a better method to shield the coop from sound?
i used quilt batting on the inside walls and thick curtains over the plastic paneled areas that are the windows, but i could still hear him through the outside wall. not as loud as when he was in my coop at the back corner of the yard but still loud enough i think the neighbors may complain.
would putting him in a pet carrier and a blanket over it to dull the crowing be humane while muffling the noise in the early am? (he will start @ 4:30am with the time change now!)
