Do they mix?

I was wondering... do chickens and peafowl mix? I was thinking about gettin a peacock and a peahen... but I have chickens and am worried if they will get along.

Yeah , im guessing they do . Im only saying this because my neighbor has chickens, guineas, turkeys, and peafowl all in the same pen/ free ranging together.

I had to nix my peacock because he constantly beat the "whey" out of my roos.

As far as behaviors go.... if you have a pair of peafowl they should do fine with your chickens.
I keep peafowl, pheasants, and chickens in each breeding pen.... and sometimes a pair of geese too

There is a hierarchy among different species though, my geese are at the top of the list, followed by the peafowl, then standard chickens... the pheasants are somewhere in the middle but dont get picked on. I keep bantam chickens separated, cuz those roosters are cocky, they start fights, but ultimately lose the fight because of their size.

One thing you should look into tho is health problems in your area.... some soil holds blackhead disease. (I live in an area in Maryland where we dont gt it)
Check with your ag. department.

Chickens and peafowl can get along. Their may be some that just do not like each other, so you would have to monitor them for awhile. It all depends on your flocks personality. Mine get along quite well, with the occasional skirmish.....turkeys too

I think it's a matter of them being raised together from the beginning. If they're introduced to the flock as adults, you may be asking for fights, but if raised from chicks together, they tend to form cooperative flocks. Mine do. I guess I can't speak for anybody else.
