we got two bronze hens last week. We have a closed shelter for them with straw for night. Everything we read says they like a roost. These girls don't fly (or at least not now cause one dog has chased them 
and they just ran. ). We are guessin they are first year layers cause both are givin eggs but a friend with turkeys saw them yesterday and was sayin how small they are. I am thinkin he has broad breasted bronze Instead of heritage bronzes like ours... ours are very proportionate in size with no larger breasts than body. Anyhoo... is it maybe acclimating to our home that they aren't usin the roost? Or just that they never had one to use and bein as turkeys are dumb birds they just won't? We put it about three ft high.. so maybe we need put it lower for them to just be able to hop onto? Or they are ok without a roost ever?
And. We have tried puttin in fresh greens for them and they don't touch them. Any particular kind they may like? I pulled greens from my garden and gave them the weeds from there too. I have seen them eat yellow squash a little bit. Tried carrot peels, zucchini apples and grapes. They are eatin their pellet, scratch once a day just a tad and foragin as well. There is just not a ton of green in the pen and i want to make sure they are gettin all the things they need.
