Do we have a problem?

Newbie here! I've been reading about various crop issues and of course now I'm looking at my Big Betty and wondering if she has an issue. She's not acting weird and to be quite honest I haven't noticed this until I let them out to free range today and thought she looked a lot "bulgier" than all the other girls. So I thought I would post some pics and get someone with more knowledge's opinion.

I have no firsthand experience with this. But I will say to watch her closely over the next day or so. If it doesn't go down, then I would worry. Good luck, I hope she has just been a pig this morning is all.

wow she is a big girl and so pretty. i love the other is that a speckled susex (sp)? i think she has just had the time of her life out on the range. but do watch her and if she starts acting funny then worry. you can always search sore crop, there is a lot of info on it. great pictures.

Pretty girls! She just looks like she's been stuffing herself to me.

I try to give my girls all a good looking over in the a.m. before I let them out for the day. They have food/water available to them in the coop too so their crops aren't usually totally empty when I let them out in the morning now that it gets light out so early, but they aren't nearly as full as they are after a day of ranging the field either. Anyhow, if you make it a habit to look them over daily you'll quickly learn what is normal for your girls and what looks wrong and needs further attention.

Thank you all! I am sure she has made a pig of herself. We don't call her Big Betty for nothin. I love her and she loves to eat! Thank you for the info and I will keep a close eye on her, just in case!

All of my flock look like that at bedtime!!

full crop = happy bird.

My hens get crops that big a lot. I don't think it's anything to worry about as long as it doesn't get much bigger, and you see she's still eating and drinking normally.

Her crop returned to normal. I found out later that after I had given them a little scratch, so did each of my children! I think she ate a ton that morning!!
