We hatched our first chick, and we are thrilled!! because just one hatched, we got it some friends. All I know is, we were told the chicks we purchased were less than a week old. They seem so much bigger, fluffier, and they are eating their food. The chick we hatched came out of the shell last Saturday at 10:05am. I know the yolk sustains them for a bit, however I'm worried. Is our newly hatched chick a runt, does it need our help, or are its new friends older than I was led to believe?

The hatched chick is a RIR and either a barred rock, or black australorp cross. The other two are polish crested.

I wouldn't worry about your chick. Do they get any nutrients in their water?

I thought about it, but I haven't yet. The packet of electrolytes call for a gallon of water. We just use a small bowl, so they don't drown themselves, and we can clean it easy when they mess with it.

There really doesn't seem like any cause for concern.
