One of my favorite chickens, a Golden Comet, BeBe, has had broken off wing feathers, the long ones, for the year that she's been with me. Do these feathers ever grow back? She needs them around here!

Yep, they will come back. You may have to wait until the moult, but they will comb back. If you are having troubles with feathers breaking, you may want to raise your protein content of your feed. Good luck!

But she hasn't moulted in a year and I've been giving her extra protein for about six weeks. Also, she's in the hatchery/infirmary now and is on grower rather than her usual layer. She also gets lots of fruit & vegs and yogurt.

If she is young, she might not have moulted her first year, that is normal. She will moult this summer, you can count on that. The only way they wouldn't grow back, is if she damaged the tissue where the feathers grow somehow. Don't get too worked up about it, she'll be fine, it's really not a big deal. I have fowl that get to missing feathers for one reason or another during the winter months, and they do just fine, and I live in Michigan!
