i hatch a lot of 'crosses' here and this batch seem to have a lot of yellow legged chicks
so does yellow legs always indicate roo?

No, it just means that there is some genetic input in the mix, that is from a yellow-legged breed. No correlation to rooster versus hen, at all.

No. Yellow legs are just a characteristic of the breed (or mutt) And have nothing to do with gender.

Yellow legs are recessive, meaning that the gene must be inherited from each parent, not just one. It is not sex-linked, although the id gene is.

super! thank you for the quick replies
