I installed hardware cloth this way under the roof. Do you think it is good enough?

I think something might be able to sneak through by bending down the wire from the top. If you can get your fist through, a coon can get in. You might be able to screw eye hooks into the framing and tightening a cable through the wire.
I'm Krugerrand and I approve this idea that nut hatched.
 
I don't think many predators would be able to get to that spot. "I" would call it secure. However, I agree with nuthatched, eye screws and wire would be a cheap and easy extra layer.
I think it would work fine too, I'm just erring on the side of caution, like my dad says: "It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it."

Hmmmmm.....first thought was, I don't like it....but the screws, on the sides near the roof, should keep it in place against most predators.
