This is what we found in an egg last week. I discarded the egg with the worm. but we ate other that morning since I didn’t see any more. Luckily it was from an odd color egg. So we haven’t really eaten any of that color. Should we discard all eggs? When should we eat from the chicken laying who seems to have this problem?

Should we not eat any eggs from the coup?

Also my whole family is sick with what seems to either be a flu or a stomach bug and I’m wondering if it’s coincidental or if we got worms as well.

Please someone who has experience with worms/ chickens respond.

That probably is a worm. We just found one in one of our eggs and looking at it under the microscope (my husband is a biologist) you can see it filled with babies. Ours was still young this one looks older. I guess it’s not that uncommon for chickens to have these. Still not clear if it can survive in humans.
Post a picture. The image provided by the OP is certainly NOT a worm.

I apologize for my unclear earlier post. I shouldn’t have said it’s probably a worm but it might be. We had a worm ( Ascaridia galli ) according to my husband, that looked similar.
