When I was a kid my grandparents had a RIR roo that was mean. Would chase cars down the driveway pecking at the tires
and attack anything that moved, people included.
I have nearly 50 chickens now with about 10 roosters and haven't had any aggressive ones. Not even including the 30 I solid this fall. About half of those were over a year old because I left them grow out to see what I wanted to keep.
My theory is with the hawks we have here don't mess with the big birds as much. They want the little ones they can carry off because they don't want to fight on the ground. This fella was a little wet from the rain but that's a 5gal feeder to give an idea of size.
