Yes I do wonder about that. My ducklings run out of water often, mostly from spilling it all out really. And they'll cheep. I go in and retrieve the empty waterer and go fill it up. They scatter still to the other side and watch me place the refilled waterer in its usual spot. Then they wait till I leave to bombard it with attention.

Same applies to brooder cleaning time and swim time. They act like I'm killing them but they thoroughly enjoy the fresh digs and swimming. LOL
