Do you feed a broody hen layer pellets/crumbles or something else?

My broody hen who is in the same pen with the laying hens eats the same food (Laying pellets). Should I be giving her something else?

My broodies (currently 2 Seramas & 1 Silkie) rarely eat

I'm keeping 28% Protein Game Bird Starter in front of them right now, so if they DO get off of the nest, they'll have super food for when they deign to eat. Even if I pull my Silkie off of the nest, she'll go right back to it without eating or drinking

Thank goodness all of them only have a week left. All three went broody on the same day, silly girls!

The higher protein foods are a good idea, but in my opinion, what they need is a balanced diet, not special treats and fillers. I'd much rather feed them regular layer which is balanced than a specialty diet that is unbalanced. By balanced, I mean vitamins and minerals as well as protein.

To be clear, I would have no problem at all with the game bird starter, flock raiser, anything like that, as long as it is a balanced feed.
