I wish my dog had this deal with me. I feed you... you feed me. I am so happy to have an animal that is like a garden. I love them, I just wish they loved me. They all run from me.... and yes I feel as if I'm stealing too. I'm on my first week of eggs tomorrow and I'm so excited.
Some of them stand up when I walk by their nest and let me get the eggs that are under them. Then they sit back down, and go about their business. I always leave the ones on the nest a bit of scratch feed when I leave.
I know that feeling. roll It's a very special, private moment for them while they're delivering their precious gift of an egg. Being new at this, I also feel I'm stealing it when I take it from the nest.
To get over that feeling, I praise them highly for the eggs, praise the roo for taking good care of his girls, and every time I get eggs throughout the day, they get special "treats" from the garden. Of course -- I have one WHOLE flock in moult, 20 birds and not ONE egg...but I have a poor, recovering little flock that faithfully gives me from 6 to 8 eggs a day out of 12 hens...
Oh, yeah....I'm the same one that birth coaches pipped eggs in the hatcher, so what do you expect???? Come on, chickie, YOU CAN DO IT! Come on out of that egg!
