Hey guys! I wanted to make this thread for multiple reasons. I have always loved chicken coops bc there is so many routes you can take! I am about to redo my coop so this could help me out as well.
I need ideas! I hope a lot of people post on this thread.
Post pictures, comments, etc. about your favorite feature or part of your coop/run. Or you can just show off your whole coop/run.

Is that just wood for your roof?

Yeah a wood roof but there is wire underneath.

They used to look like this before I got rid of the slabs they were on. I started off with with just covers or tarps on but that just didn’t keep the wet out enough plus they needed replacing too often.

Two of my favourite things to have on a coop are:
1) wheels - moving them along gives them fresh ground & lets their old spot recover
2) light sensitive automatic pop hole openers - because I’m old! Ha ha! - so when the days are long I don’t have to stay up to put my party hens to bed (& I can have lie in too!).

In my coop I love the clear floor, easy to stir litter.

The nest boxes are easy to clean if an egg breaks.

A poop board makes cleanup easy, it was an addition that I didn't like after a time, but I like it again.

The pop door was an addition that I really love. No more wild birds in the coop all day!

The best feature? It's a big open space that I can walk in. The door is 4' wide so I can bring in the wheel barrow when I clean.

I thought about auto doors but mine can be a bit a rouge and not go in the coop! So I’m afraid for me it’s bird shooing at night in PJ’s

It's only clean because all they do is sleep in there

I do love it though, thank you! It's not nearly as pretty as many coops people have, but it works out great for us.

I wish my coop stayed that clean. I have to clean mine out so often

My nest bank is my favorite part, it wouldn't be what it is without the adjacent storage area in the large shed. Built into the coop wall I can gather eggs, or grab a stubborn broody, or clean them out, without entering the coop itself nad be under cover during nasty weather.


Wide open back access, with built in 'shelf', makes all that a breeze.


Permanent covers makes 'training' the chicks not to sleep in them, or again that stubborn broody.



The round entrances emulates the old galvanized nest banks, one of my only aesthetic/romantic/sentimental indulgences...although they also help hold in bedding and offer a more cave-like coziness so are funtional too.
