Do you have a favorite feature or part of your coop/run?

My nest bank is my favorite part, it wouldn't be what it is without the adjacent storage area in the large shed. Built into the coop wall I can gather eggs, or grab a stubborn broody, or clean them out, without entering the coop itself nad be under cover during nasty weather.

Wide open back access, with built in 'shelf', makes all that a breeze.

Permanent covers makes 'training' the chicks not to sleep in them, or again that stubborn broody.

The round entrances emulates the old galvanized nest banks, one of my only aesthetic/romantic/sentimental indulgences...although they also help hold in bedding and offer a more cave-like coziness so are funtional too.
That is a really nice setup I like it!!!

My nest bank is my favorite part...

I'm planing to do something very similar with the nest box built into the wall where I can get to it from the other side and have storage on top... mine will not be nearly as well lit though.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

It’s open to the chickens now just still finishing up exterior framing. But this little pop door. I love it because it looks like we have carpentry skills. LOL it’s actually just the front of a broken rabbit hutch and screwed it on and painted it. But that’s my secret. LOL. My other favorite feature is still being built. Making rollaway nest boxes. And using my old cabinet doors for the bottom so I just pull them out to collect the eggs.

Well since my husband was good enough to have a coop custom built to my specifications last year, I would say I love everything about it! Except my feeding station. I am trying to keep it neat and tidy and the darn chickens keep making a mess of it. Going to go to plan C on that shortly.

Coop inside covered run. Chickens stay cooler and drier and it makes it much easier for me to care for them, especially in the winter time.

The whole back of the coop opens up making it easy to clean it out. No stooping or bending over required!

The feeding station. The chickens are now kicking the rocks all over the run. GRRRRR!!!

One mistake I made in designing this coop is the front windows. I should have gotten some smaller, double hung windows so the the nest box lids could have been at more of an angle. I also can't open the nest box lid without shutting the window first, but I had these vintage windows and really wanted to use them. Such is life.

Well, it was a couple of local guys that built it and it was an ordeal getting them to finish it. They never did put the putty in the windows, which I will now have to do. And various other little things. I also did all the painting and I installed the hardware cloth and the trim on the inside and some of the trim on the outside.
But in the end it is all good. My husband did the run though after the carport company installed it. He had to make a door and install the hardware cloth and so forth. I am very happy with it.
