Anyone here have a hard time parting with chickens that you don't really want. I have a Rd/blk friz bantam hen. While I can't breed her to the roo who came w/her from the hatchery I just can't bring myself to part with her. They don't lay big eggs. I do have a red hen w/o friz. She does have a blk wing feather but that's it. The roo has friz and no sign of blk. Any suggestions?

Just realize that your chicken has no real emotional attatchment to you, then just do whatever it was you had to do with her.

I, too am having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with my rooster. I really like him, but he keeps dragging my little prissy around by the neck. I know its normal and maybe he will get better but I am at a loss as what to do with him, if I do decide. I have the same type of attachment as your describing. He is a beautiful bird.

don't you agree?

"Well I know that silly. It's the emotional attachement I have to her. Or is it something else?"

Silly, I understand that. I just mean if you realize that your 'beloved' doesn't feel the same.. maybe that should make it easier.

Leg-Horn, if that roo is bothering you with his behavior, just pen him separately for a few months and let him get bigger. Then when you turn him out and he grabs her neck, she will submit and it will not be a rodeo, just quick, some feathers rustling and her walking away ruffling her feathers to put them all back in place.

BushHog, the ones I get sentimental about are the ones that have given me chicks that I liked how they turned out. The rest are just birds, future din-din.
