Do you have (occasionally) chickens or other poultry in your house?

How often do you have chickens or other poultry in your house?

  • Always

  • Every day or at least 4 times a week

  • I let them in occasionally

  • Occasionally (trespassing)

  • Never

  • Only chicks in a brooder

  • Chicks yes, grown ups as voted above

  • When I have a sick chicken

Chicks are raised upstairs for a week or two, and then finish out their brooding in the basement before moving outside full-time.

We also put a massive 3x8 stock tank in the basement to use as both a grow out brooder, and a place to bring our 7 bantams in extreme weather or other niche circumstances. Now what I'd really love is to frame out that space to contain all the freaking DUST! AHHH! We have an air purifier and canvas curtains around it, but some dust still wafts out and onto our things. 🤢

If the weather is nice, you can move the chicks to a ‘chick coop’ outside with a brooder heating plate.
They sell these as coops/hutches for bantam chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs. But you can easily make one yourself too with some wood , waterproof roofing and hwc.
