Do you have to wait for fully feathered chicks to move them outside?

where about are you in the mountains, I'm in big bear, still a bit cool at night here 45.

If it gets cool at night, I would make sure they can keep warm.
If it gets hot at day, I would make sure they have shade.
Make sure predators can't get them. Cover the top if open.
Also, make sure they have plenty of fresh air.
Plenty of food and water.
Kept clean.
Note, if in a garage, make sure you ventilate so fumes don't get them.
Kinda giving advice on old notes lol.

Hope you do well.

New Orleans chick/duck raiser, total newby.

3 Buff Orp hens and 3 Pekins... 5 days old, temps here are nice and warm, no real need
for a heat lamp. Right now all 6 are chilling out in my shed in a brooder, eating, drinking,
having a merry old time... I have a coop ready for them and a protected run. Can I,
with the temps so nice, put them in the run THIS early? I'd like to offer them more space.

Thoughts?

Hmm, I think five days is probably still to young. I'm fairly new at this though too. I waited until three weeks. I've seen babies out at two weeks but mine were way too young at that point.

We've, so far, brought them outside to waddle around in the grass for a few minutes, but all while we're
watching.

For the next month or so I figured no free ranging, just in an outdoor pen while one of us is outside
to watch/scare away predators.
