I hug my chickens, pet them, cuddle them, zip them up in my coat and carry them around, kiss them, stand them on my shoulder, and bring them in the house. My only rule is I don’t cuddle (or any of those other things) any chickens with dirty feet because then whatever was on their feet is going to be on me.

I believe it's all in the mind. By cleaning their feet you get rid of the visible stuff, but it's the microorganisms that really matter.
Scary😱 !!
I'm not entirely sure that was what your point was, neither do I know that what I said was true🤷‍♂️

I did do science at school but I don't remember much, clearly.

Well yes, they are chickens and their feet will never be clean but if they are dry-ish and don’t have a turd or dirt stuck to them then I stay relatively clean. One time I got back from a trip and I went to give Spice (my speckled Sussex) a hug but I picked her up about six inches off the ground only to realize that the grossest poo was stuck to her foot🤣🤣 so I put her down and she seemed so sad! I felt bad but she kicks so if I were to hug her I would have ended up with that turd smeared all over the front of my coat 🤣
Sorry for the long post :p

Haha, my hen June Bug has poopy feet in the mornings and a few mornings ago she jumped on my head!! With poop caked on her feet!

Currently having cuddles from my ducklings. I give my hens cuddles if they let me but most of the time they run if I try to pick them up. My birds are not pets but still, everyone enjoys cuddles once in a while .
