I found a 8 bottle wine cooler for $20 that needs a fan. What kind of fan can I get for it and where can I find it?
Do I need a fan? I want to use it to store eggs at the right temperture before hatching them?

Mine had 2-3", 12volt CPU fans in it. One in the back wall to circulate the air inside and one behind the false back to remove the heat from the heat-sink. Both had to be removed from the back as part of the cooling module. Mine also had a fan that wasn't working, however it was the circuit board and not the fan itself. Take off the false back and turn on the unit. You will see which fan isn't working. If you get a series of beeps immediately after turning it on it is probably the board. If it is the fan itself it will start beeping only after the temps of the sensors are out of range. This is the way mine was anyhow. I got mine to make an incubator so it didn't really matter if it was working or not, but I played with it some before finally doing the conversion.

You can just leave them on the kitchen counter, or in the basement/cellar, whatever you have. I wouldn't submerge them in water, as air exchange takes place through the shell. At least the wine coolers I'm familiar with use water.

I don't have a basement here at my new place and the house is about 70 degrees most of the time. At some point I want to ship. So do I need to keep looking?
This isn't like a ice bucket is more like a refrigeranter.

Personally, I always found wine coolers a bit too tart for my liking...
