Air conditioning, just enough to keep them cooler

I am in a hot and humid environment. I have a fan blowing into my run just to help with air circulation, and in the coop I have a small a/c. I originally got it because it was my first coop, and I raised the pullets in it, but before they were old enough to regulate their body temperatures, it was just too hot here in July. Throw in that was our record setting heat year, and it was the only way I could find to keep the coop temp healthy for them.

Now, I use it on the hottest days, and they can come into the coop out of the run for a while to just chill. Literally. It keeps the coop at 80-85 degrees and pulls a bit of humidity out of the air in the coop, instead of the upper 90's with high humidity of the run, and gives them respites.
Living in Virginia, we've got the high (three to four months long) temperatures and the miserable humidity (I'm an Alaskan transplant who's been here long enough to REALLY appreciate A/C). This is the first summer with our hens outside, as we kept them in our garage while we were building the coop & run. It took longer than expected to finish because of the heat and frequent rain.
I'm very curious, what fan/air conditioner are you using in your coop? How large is your coop?
Ours is only 8' x 4', but gabled, so our smallest chicken roosts on the rafter and mocks the big girls beneath her because they can't get up there. 🙄 We have good ventilation and a ridge vent, but I know it's going to continue to get hotter, and I'd really like to have a fan on either side of our coop to bring cooler air in from the shaded side and out the other side, but most solar fans (especially with battery backup, which is what I'm looking for) have fairly lousy reviews. Does anyone have a solar fan setup they recommend?
Thanks in advance!

I just got the cheapest I could find for a small room which is generally 100 sq ft. It was worth every penny, which was (I think) right around $100 on sale.

Even with the pop door open, I can keep the coop cool but not cold by running it on low or medium speed and a few clicks below the coldest setting. They routinely just go into the coop to chill for a while on hot days.
