Do you let them out on rainy / miserable days?

Some of mine go out and others stay in. I let them decide!!

Mine are also free to come and go as they wish in bad weather.
I find that there are those who don't mind the rain and stay out all day and then there are the prissy ones who stay indoors all day and don't dare mess up their hair do.

Oh yeah, let em' out. My husband heard on the radio during the weekend that it is best to let farm animals free-range and not stay cooped up as they can get all kinds of sicknesses and diseases, especially when it is dry weather. The spokesperson also said that horses and chickens that have a large area to get out are much better healthy animals. Feed your chickens scratch grains as the corn will help heat their bodies up when you have the cold weather.

mine beg to go out. If they had little hands, they would be on bended knee, pleading thier case to get out to stretch and do all the chicken things they love to do. Our blind roo, when it gets real rainy, looks so miserable, he just stands still letting the rain weigh him down. We go out to put him under cover, (he knows where all the cover is, he just chooses to stay still). After a few minutes of being in the dry, or at least long enough for us to get our rain gear off and look through the window, there he is, standing out in the rain again.

You bet - if I kept them in during rainy weather here in SW Washington, they'd spend half the year inside!! I leave the coop door open and let them decide...they usually prefer to come out. They head back in or stand under a bush if it starts raining hard.

I open the coop door into the run early every morning, and they usually stay in the run until about 2 or 3oclock (hopefully they will have laid by then) then I turn them out to free range, if its raining or snowing, they can either stay in the coop where it's warm, I have lots of hay on the ground, or go outside in the rain and snow, their choice. marrie

OK, now I feel bad - I left for school this morning without letting them out! But trust me, I had their best intentions in mind.

I will let them out when I get home from my last class though.

(I'm in college btw, not high school!)

I let my chickens go out and they usually prefer to stay under the bushes and the porch where they get their water. I give them some food which gets thrown out at the end of the day to prevent mold and they seem to be happy.
