Sundae, Oreo, Madeleine, Twizzler, ChickenPopcorn (It the screen name my dad uses. She's my dad's chicken), Sweet roll, and I call the last one Unclaimed and unnamed. If they are all girls I'll name her, but she's the backup in case someone's chick turns out to be a rooster and we have to get rid of it, they will still have a chicken they can name. I'm suspicious of Oreo. My 4 year old son's chicken.

I name the ones I can differentiate with unique names, then the ones I can't tell apart get general breed names. All the Gold Wyandottes are named Hazel - some are Dark Hazel, and some are Light Hazel, but they are all Hazels. All my Barred Rocks are Mables. My Wellsummer's were Myrtles. In this new flock I have Eddie Munster as the known cockerel. The probable pullets are Cheep, Oscar the Grouch, Lucky, 1 Light Hazel, 3 Dark Hazels, Charlie, Rose, Buffy Orpa, Daisy, Ozred and Ozzy, Mable, and 3 as yet unnamed.

I started out with 10 names are Billy, Bertha, Luna, Dottie, Caroline, Ginger, Gidget, Gemma, Pewter and Thirteen... Gadget had some sort of genetic thing and was culled before a year.. still have the other 9 plus, so far, 3 of their young which are Shadow, Blackberry and Walter.. Billy is going on a freezer vacation here shortly and Walter will probably take over.. have more that are a week.. once we figure out who we are keeping we will name them.

The first batch we got, I thought they were all pullets, so I named one Ginger, and he turned out to be a rooster. The ones I have now are Lucy, Angelica, Rosemary, Oreo, Lady Gladys, Serenity, Cinnamon, Cocoa, Gwendolyn, Buttercup and Cornflower. Four of them were named by my grandchildren. Hopefully, none of them will be roosters. We'll see!
