Do you think I need to get rid of all my chickens?

Can chickens be treated for salmonella with antibiotics? Does it work to rid them of the bacteria, and does anyone know how expensive it is per bird?

Good Lord. Salmonella twice in three months?!? I truly feel for you. That is awful. I had it only one time in my life and I literally thought I was going to die. I lost so much weight and was so weak. I couldn't even get up and walk. It was beyond compare, worse even then several surgeries that I have had. I can't even begin to imagine having it twice in a short time period.

I really hope you can get to the bottom of what has caused it. I would call the universities in your state and the state vet's office and see if they can help you in some way with testing. I just can't imagine. I definitely would not risk getting it a third time, even if that meant getting rid of the birds. Again, I really feel for you. Hopefully, someone with the state can help you get some testing done and for sure pinpoint the source.

hired someone to care of your pets for amonth to see if u r feeling better
dont believe your doctor if they r telling u it your chicken r giving to u. to much information on the net about eggs giving salmonella. go get your folk tested too

I imagine you could put powdered terramycin in the water. And no it is not expensive. But at this point you really have no idea what the source of your infection is. Ask the doctor if there is a samonella vaccine available for you.
