Do You Think That Hanging Laundry Outside Looks Bad?

Ahhh... Yet another reason to live rural.

That is completely crazy! I love hanging my clothes out to dry. I don't understand that one at all.

Oh my if I hung my laundry in the front yard....I wouldn't be able to see what my neighbors are doing..

..just kidding..my front yard is downhill from the house, it wouldn't obstruct the view at all..lol

On a serious note..I hang my laundry out..in the back yard and have inside drying racks that I use in the winter by the wood burning stove. I have a small electric bill, especially in the winter. I also live on 20 acres with the house not visible from the road, no one sees my laundry but the wildlife and the hunters..but in town there is one family that has an American wire fence in their front yard..you guessed it.. also serves as their clothesline..and some of the "dirtiest" laundry I have ever seen!!

On the other hand, if I lived in a gaited community, with a 1/2 million dollar home that had a yard backed up to another 1/2 million dollar home..I may not want to see laundry on the line either?? But I would never live like that so that is not a problem!!

I hang my laundry out from the time it's warm enough all the way until it's too cold. I love it!! It saves us soooooooo much money and honestly, because I know it saves money, I tend to do bedding, curtains,all the dreaded things much more often!! Sometimes I get so overzealous that I run out of clothesline!!

I think that when people are given the opportunity to put their nose in where it doesn't belong they become too high and mighty believing that they have with enough influence, they can over power people. It's just crazy!! Next they might try saying that your windchime is too loud, or they don't like the way your magnolia tree smells in the spring (some examples)....some people need a wake up call

I personally think HOA's should be banned....not line drying.

I do however giggle when I drive by my neighbor while she is hanging out her middle aged sons briefs. I just wonder if he ever says... MOM! GEEZ! Could you at least put them behind the towels?

But on the subject..
I like to see nice square sheets on a line. Im not a big fan of seeing all different size clothes down a collapsing clothes line. If they were arranged in size and categorized on a tight line I might not mind (but whos got the time for that?).

Just keep it in your back yard IMO. But for me... clothes dried outside dont smell very good. But I dont know if Im do it right

Your neighbors' see you wear the clothing, why does it suddenly become offensive if you put the same clothing on a line?

We don't get after people for parking a car on the driveway instead of a garage. Maybe I don't like the way my neighbor's truck looks, so why should I be forced to stare at it outside my window?

You all are lucky that you CAN have a clothes line. We live too close to a well used gravel road with dust billowing in every day. Our house is WAY too small to put up drying racks inside, aside from maybe one in the basement for some clothes that just can't handle the dryer. I wish I could have that line, but until someone gets an itch to pave the road, not going to happen.

No, it doesn't look bad and I'm glad the tide is turning away from banning it.

I suppose if you have enough money to live in an upscale HOA you have enough money to burn on electricity for your dryer.

Personally, I think it looks trashy. But, that gives me the right to hang it in my basement instead of my yard, not to tell others that they have to do the same thing. It's none of my business if my neighbor's yard looks trashy in my opinion.
