I have 5 eggs in a homemade incubator. The incubator is heated by a light bulb and it has a fan in it. They are due to hatch in about 5 days. This morning I woke up and the thermostat read 73.4 deg!!!!! The light bulb had burned out. I put in a new one and its up to temp now. Do you think they are still ok? I have candled them a couple times and they have been growing good so far :). I would hate to loose them the last few days of incubation.

A lower temp is always better than a higher temp

I just had a broody hatch out the first batch of chicks for the year, I watched her get off the nest daily for around an hour in Temperatures that hovered around 40 degree's, The day before they hatched she was of the nest for over an hour and they all still hatched out fine... Hopefully your temps weren't low for to long but my gut tells me that's your more than likely ok.

Agree. They'll be fine. I had a broody get on the wrong nest for maybe 7-8 hours (65-70 degrees F) and they all still hatched fine.
