Do you think these are ready to release to freerange?

ok, These 6 seem to have figured out the higher roost. The run is 5X10. and a couple are now making a rather loud noise. There are free ranging chickens and 2 ducks in the yard. Do you think these are large enough to release 2 at a time? I just shot at a coyote tonight so I want to make sure they are large enough to get up high. I was thinking of adding a roost on top the run between the chicken run and the dog run the guineas are in. Do you think 6 feet up is high enough? There are apple trees and other large hardwoods in the area.

How long have they been in their current coop?

a week. They are ultimately going to have to figure out the apple trees or oak trees although I am going to put a 2X4 up between the chicken run and the dog run the guineas are currently in. that gives a roost 6 feet up. I am thinking releasing 2 , then after a few days release a 3rd, wait a few days and release the 4th, then finally all 6. Maybe this is too aggressive a schedule?

I think that's a good idea. One mistake I did was keeping them penned too long---when I finally let them out, they were terrified of the outdoors and refused to stay out of the run. They'd just fly back in.

I'm planning to get some next spring, I had lavenders several years ago but sold them when we moved. Got a good size flock of chickens up n running, started turkeys and geese ( 2 eggs in the incubator due to hatch any moment) this year. If only add a couple new critters here n there DH handles it better. lol
