Do you think they are getting close to laying?

Based on these pictures of my 5 chickens do you think they are getting close to laying? No eggs found yet...

They are all 19wks today
2 x new Hampshire reds
1x French marans
1x buff orpington
1x golden laces wyandotte

Also, how do I make sure they lay inside their bedding box? Will they just do that naturally? Or will that require some training?

I would guess you have a week or 2 before you get your first egg from the NHR in your 2nd picture, and a few more weeks past that before the others start. But I am just guessing and nature does what it wants lol

As for getting them to lay in the nesting box, getting some fake eggs and placing one in some of them can help encourage them.

Looks like they have awhile to go yet. About another 3 months, or they'll wait for spring.
