do you think this idea will work for a temp home?

We have a little cage that is about 1.5 ft by 3 feet. It is made out of lumber and chicken wire. We also have a dog igloo (that our dog never used). Do you think I can attach the two and give our baby girls (about 2 wks old) and play pen outside. I have been keeping them in totes but now that it is warmer outside I would like them to be able to get out of there totes and have a different experience. At nighttime, I would put them back into the totes and back into my husbands shed. Thanks in advance.

I don't see why not. As long as you can make it so that nothing can get in and they can't get out. I wouldn't just plop them in there and not watch them though. Keep an eye out and be sure they are okay, not huddling or panting.

Give them some shade, water, and food and you should be good to go. Be careful with the water so they don't get wet-put in pebbles or rocks.

ABSOLUTETLY! I used an old dog igloo with the "tent" that we built for temp housing. (We also had an unused 10 x 10 dog run to keep them in.)

Take a look:

ALL 10 4 mo old RIR chicks put themselves to bed every night as soon as the sun goes down. They will continue this habit when the coop is built, too.

Happy chicking and building!!
