As usual, woman plans and DH comes up with something better. His plan took us a day to make. We used one 4x8 3/8 inch ply, cut in half, supported by one 8 foot 2x2. Then, we attached two 1x2's and painted them with blue "Olympic" brand construction grade paint (~$13.99).
Outside of dog enclosure--yes, I have a ceiling made of chicken wire. (You will see that a tree fell on one of these sides last year...)
It took them two days to figure it out, but now all of the chickens go into the igloo at night. (Dog I got it for HATED it, a horse tried to destroy it, now the birdies love it <3 )
MOMKINS! (And product placement!)
Surprisingly, no spill feeding
I used leftover 8" 2x4's to support the 1x2 horizontal strips. I glued and screwed them together.
Temp coop foreground, old rabbit house (to be deconstructed soon for the chickens...it's that purple thing...)
Fanny my loyal egg layer, awaiting building project. She is safe and sound in the barn, in a great old rabbit hutch.
