Do you think this is fox or raccoon scat? I don't think it is coyote.

Owl pellet. I know you're concerned about foxes, racoons but an owl will make quick work of chickens if they are roosting outside at night. If they are not, then you should be okay.
 
Now that the size is clear, I'd also vote bird...maybe something came along afterward to scavage through it...that might explain it not still being in pellet form.

Thanks a lot! I feel better now as I do let the chickens free range til roost-time and the yard is surrounded by a 3 rail fence lined with chicken wire and a hot wire 6 inches up. At least with an owl I couldn't expect to keep it out with a fence. I'll make sure I get out to the coop early to lock up the chickens.
Teach1rusl it SMELLED weird but I didn't take a really good whiff because I read you're not supposed to if it's raccoon poop. If it's an owl it makes sense that there was nothing disturbed around the coop...
