Do you watch your gals lay as much as I do?

Just spent almost an hour (again!) sitting on a galvanized can in the coop, waiting patiently 2 feet from 2 of my girls as they did their thing. I feel silly sometimes the way I praise them when they are finished, but I think they like it! I gave birth naturally 3 times, so I admire all of their hard work!

I love my girls!

Aww, that's sweet! And I hear ya on the natural birthing...it was twice for me, one a home birth. One of my girls seems to wait to lay her eggs until I'm right there, lol. They're such a joy to watch, and I always sweet talk them and tell them thank you.

Nature is a wonderful thing.

I love hearing about the relationships people have with their chickens.

It gives me great job to interact with my chickens. I feel as though I contribute to their well being.

I don't sit and watch, but I do seem to get lucky. Many times I've walked into the hen house just in time to see one lay an egg.

I haven't intentionally gone out to watch by have gone out when one is in the nest and I will patiently wait till she is done. I don't watch though, I feel silly, but feel she needs her privacy. Then I make a big deal out of it in of course baby talk.

I love to watch the behavior of my flock members, individually and in their groups. I don't go into the coop(s) because they're not really big enough to stay in any of 'em comfortably, just to watch them lay. However, the NEW coop under construction is 8x8 and I fully intend to take a chair in there and spend some coop time with whichever chickens will hang out there at various times of the day.

I once reached under one of my hens just as she stood up to lay an egg, and she laid it right in my hand. WOW. How nifty a moment that was!

I find that I watch them a lot as they dust bathe. Those antics just make me smile.
