Do you work in the medical field? Post here

I was a PSW for a few years then worked up to my RPN

(PSW is like a nurses aide, I was in 4 homes a day bathing patients assessing dressings and calling the nurse when they needed to be changed, all the grunt work nurses dont want to do...lol

I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner but work in Endocrinology now, only treating diabetes and thyroid disease. Much less stressful than family practice (constant drug seekers!)

does being a mom to 2 wild children count? I swear. Oh, and helping DH go through EMT-B and I classes...I read the textbooks out loud because he understands better that way. I swore I could have passed those tests...sheesh

J/K

I did work at an orthopedic surgeons office for 4 years and at a Surgery clinic as their errand girl. Cleaning beds after surgeries was a lot of fun...ugh

I'm an RN but I don't really care for the field but I keep doing it because it pays better than other jobs. I work in home health and I am really really good at it but... I don't really like what I do. If I didn't do that though, I couldn't have all these wonderful chickens to cheer me up on my off time.

Amen to that sista!
I won't say I don't like my job. I actually love what I do, I know I make an impact on my patients and a few never forget you. Sometimes though when the rough days come up I think it would be better working at the local walmart, but I know I would not have my farm, chickens or the 5 horses in my back yard.

So far I'm loving it! I've seen six babies born, and I'm very excited (and scared witless) to start placement in the spring.

Ok I am going to chime in here. I am 24 and just graduated in July in Medical Transcription and I was able to stay on where I did my internship. What I love most is that I can stay at home work.

I was a Registered Vet Tech for 10 years. Very unrewarding except my last job in Baltimore (Erdman Animal Hospital - greatest job in the world.) I miss that one.

I started out as a dental assistant then went to oral surgery. Quit the dental field and was a chiropractors assistant for a while. I went back to school after that and became a LPN. Now I am a stay at home mom and I sometimes work PRN for a LTC home nearby.
