Do you worry about Magpie?

There are a group of Magpie (Pica pica) near us, they love to fight with Ravens. As we have a quite big pond here in the garden, they also love to come for drinking and having bath.

Sometimes, they will wait to share some food from our hens. Most of the time, hens will tolerate them unless they are too close.

Few days ago I found a dead boby of small mouse, which looks quite scaring. I originally thought it might be done by the cats, as cats used to "play" their prey. Then our neighbor (who lived here for more than 40 years) told me it's done by the Magpie.

Then I realized Magpie eat young birds and eggs, small mammals - immediately reinforce the run for baby chicks. Did you ever have some bad experiences with Magpie?

I have not had any experience with this, but found it interesting and looked these guys up. Apparently, magpies are rather resourceful and will eat anything they can.

Will be interested to see what others people have experienced. It is not a bird I would have thought you might need to worry about. I could see eggs and chicks getting nabbed by them.
