Do youngsters "play"

I have 12 youngsters under a broody. 6 are about 5 weeks and the other 6 a week behind. I see a lot of "mock fighting" between some of the older ones and even a few of the younger ones. Do all chicks do this? Is itjust part of them establishing thier place in the flock or can I be resoonable sure the ones doing it are cockerels?

Yes, they do all do that. I even see girls doing that. They can start with it pretty young.

I have adult hens that do that do that with the bantam rooster in the adjoining pen. lol
