This may be a weird question to ask, but I just have to know.

My chickens free range while I'm working out in the yard near them. On these hot summer days I wear flip-flops and my chickens always peck at my toe nails. I try to shoo them away and say, "NO" but then I just feel crazy for treating them like a dog as if they understand. I love them anyways.

I'm just curious if any of your chickens have the same pecking behavior and what other odd things they like to peck.

My hens have never done this to me, but I have heard of the same thing happening to others. Your toes look like worms to them, so they think that they will taste good.

I wear flip flops as well, and my barred rocks look at my toes intently and have pecked at them. So, I removed my purple toe nail polish and they stopped pecking. Now they peck at my legs to say "hurry up with the treats!". I always say "i'm hurrying, I'm hurrying, chill out!"

My girls always peck and my finger and toenails when I'm wearing nail polish! They seem to peck at them more when I have very bright polish on

Yep. We can't go outside without something on our feet or we get pecked toes. It's usually one of the barred rocks that does it.

Our solution is to keep a pair of Crocs outside by the door...just slip 'em on when we go out and off when we go in...keeps the toes nice and protected!

That's a good idea! I have to wear my rubber boots when I go to feed them because they just attack me with love. Haha. It's good to know my chickens aren't the only ones.
