Do your polish get picked on?

I'm glad to find this thread..!!!!

I just got 8 egg laying Sex-links last Saturday and 6 juvie lavender white crest polish. My links won't leave them alone and seem to have picked on one in particular and now she has a bloody tail. I have a picnic table in their coop as a temp. roost until we finish their coop up this weekend, so I had to chicken wire around the table to make it a make-shift chick coop until they are older. I was reading someplace that you should never have Polish with any type of hen that is agressive. I would have to say you will have to have only Polish. I have learned never combine the Polish...and on top of that especially if they are younger than your other hens. I am afraid I will need to sell them and get other egg layers the same size to stop this pecking. I don't know what else to do.

At the moment I have just one Polish hen - she does not get pick on at all. But, I have a very laid back group of ladies ( Light Brahmas ) and they don't bother or pick on anyone, including chicks or bantams or even new hens. I have a couple of Polish and Houdans that are growing out - some are in with the flock now, and some are in the brooder - no troubles. I have heard that it makes a difference if they are all brooder together and see the head candy of the crested breeds from day one. I don't know if I would try adding a full grown Polish to an already mature flock that has never seen headgear before......

My polish is also d-u-m-b but in a hilarious and lovable way, and she does not get picked on. Our young BA's and Marans pick on our older cochin and silkie but if they go after the polish she does her crazy kung-fu moves - jumps up in the air and claws at them, she is pretty gutsy! Sounds like I am lucky!

I have had the same issue with my polish babies getting picked on. It's the oddest thing. I have mostly black and brown chickens. My EE Bones is white with some black and she was the first to get picked on. So we isolated her and all was fine. Now my white crested black has had all the head feather picked out right in the middle of her head. Poor thing. So off to isolation she went to heal. Then we had not one but 2 white cochin bantams get killed. Our mille fluer and buff are fine. It's like a color thing my chickens hate white I guess. No one else has been touched just the white chickens.
