Hi Im new to the group and cant wait to read all the helpful tips! I have only had chickens one other time about 30 yrs ago! I had planned on getting chickens again but didn't know when! Well the chickens decided for me! I have a very rural piece of property and I was working there and 6 chickens showed up! They were not afraid if me at all! I dont have any close neighbors and upon investigation I found out a gentleman decided he did not want them anymore, so he dumped them! I carried a small dog cage and just dropped raw sunflower seeds in! They walked in one at a time! So I brought them home! After about three weeks i was sitting outside drinking coffee one morning, looked up and there was a new hen there! No Idea where she came from. So guess the chickens decided for me it was time to have them! Now I have a question after that long intro! I have a question about The hen that just showed up. Anyone know what kind she is? Were the six that were dumped all roosters?
