doctor rant

She said she was supposed to have an u/s so I am sure her hubby wanted to be there to see the baby.

I hope you spoke with the office manager. If they had you booked for an u/s that is not acceptable that they weren't able to see you for it and their scheduling needs to be looked at.
Good luck when you do get yours though

Our Dr. schedules 6 patients per time slot. On top of that he sees prisoners and is the only coroner. I waited 4 hours with the same people in the waiting room one day. Nobody went in. That's when I found out about the prisoners. I refuse to sit in his office all day. I now drive an hour and a half to a different Dr.

I'm right there with ya. I have lived in a country with socialized medicine. It's ok for routine preventative care, but stinks otherwise. BTW overbooking and long waits are very common with socialized medicine too.

I used to have a doctor that always overbooked. I told him one day that I expected to be called in advanced and told of delays or I would deduct the value of my time from his bill for any long waits. It actually worked. Now, before I go to any dr's appointment, I call before I leave to ask if they are running on schedule.

I once showed up for a doctor's a appointment that was made about 2 months in advance ----when their office had called me the day before the appointment ---- and they told me when I got there that I wasn't scheduled. I waited a whole darn 3 months, and THEY very call me the day before to remind me, and then forget that I was supposed to be there??? AND the icing on the cake was that the doc was condescending to me and didn't help me at all so I eventually did end up finding something to help myself. I was SO ticked I canceled my health insurance. I can do that sorry of a job treating myself.

It's the same thing with all the vets here. My cat is hurt NOW, my dog was throwing up all of the last day and a half, I need to see the vet TODAY not next week!!!

I have a good vet, but we moved away. I still make that hour+ drive in traffic with a howling cat because Dr Carlin really is THAT much better. Now if only I could find a vet that is that good and sees more than one species

Having lived in the US for 37 yrs but now living in a country with socialized medicine, I have to tell you that I have never in my life had SO LITTLE waiting time for routine dr appointments as I do now. (If I needed, like, a hip replacement, that'd be a different matter). If there is something wrong with me or the kids, I can always get an appointment same or next day, and have never had to wait more than a half hour (often next to no wait at all).

So, it's a little more complicated than you might think.

It really truly sucks for the OP to have had her husband take a whole day off work (in this economy!) just to have the u/s cancelled. I hope she raised a ruckus with the office manager... or, do it next time you're there!

Best of luck (and congrats!),

that sucks! i am sorry you didnt get to see your precious bean today, but hopefully they will be a little mopre careful next time and not overbook.

My husband had to take me becouse he wanted to see the baby

The doctor kept telling me how sorry he was,but he didnt really look like he ment it.
My husband was really mad, so I had to get out of there as fast as we could.
If next hime doesnt go any better, I will find another doctor even if I have to drive two hours for one.

I hear you. I am blessed that my one specialist is always very good and gets me right in. But insurance is another issues. They don't want to cover one of my medications because it is very costly. My doctors been trying to get them to cover it but they are being hard. Mind you I need the medication ! My doctor gave me my meds himself in the meanwhile, while he keeps working to get it covered. I just think it is awful that insurance companys make people suffer and refuse because of numbers. Without the medication I am not even able to stand ! Insane !

Amen to that one! My doctor had to fight Medicare because the other meds DONT work but no, they had to give me another genetric which it didnt work and had to have tons of other meds to assist me to get thru the day!

I hate the waiting time too. One time I had to wait for over 45 minutes after my appt time was due, sitting all that time in the waiting room and another 30 minutes inside the visit room and five freaking minutes for the doc to take a look at me and give me the diagnosis and treat me for RX which that writing up takes another 15 minutes! UGH! His staff is no better and I kept getting the "flak" feeling from them. It wont be too much longer I will be with that doctor.
