Does a broody stop turning eggs at day 18 ?

Well, it looks like she turns some of them after day 18.

To recap, here is day 18:

And here is day 19:

I'll update with day 20 tomorrow.

Maybe she didn't turn 8 because she could hear it hatching. . . .

Take another picture tomorrow and we can compare the ones hatching with where they were the day before. . .

Since we do not hear the piping as well as the mother does - - -maybe that is why we are not suppose to turn them in the last 3 days.

I can't wait to see where they are tomorrow!

Hi All,
Personally I think broody hens stay on the nest to protect any hatching chicks which are extremely vulnerable after hatching. IMO it doesn't matter if the egg is turned ... it's not like the chick has a lot of room to turn around in. The chick has to rotate it's head 180 - 200 degrees in the pipping process before it can finally kick its way out of the egg which is why chicks are exhausted when they finally break free.

humidity under my pullet at day 19 is 76-77 as for turning the eggs at day 18 I still can't tell you and its day 19 and 1 of my broody's stopped brooding, had to take some eggs and put them back in bator, at this point I'm not expecting any to hatch, lucky I live in florida and the coop is in a hot spot, the eggs wouldn't cool too much.

Nine out of eleven! I candled the other two and I believe they were quitters. Here is the pic, though you can't tell much about whether the hen turned them cause the nest is full of egg shells and chicks:
