Does a chicken get depress if her buddy dies?

I had 6 laying hens, only 2 were EE, should I get more EE, they will be chicks. I guess it will be diff not growing up together. I still have 2 dominiqes, a road island red, one EE and a comet. A comet Rooster, a dominiqe Roo that was born here, ( his father died when he was a wk old) and a bantam gamecock. I need to find a home for RJ the dominiqe (sp?). The comet Roo looks after the hens, let them eat first. RJ want to chase the hens away to eat first. He is beautiful. Looks just like his dad.

I will give him free to a good home 7 mos old

Almost 19 years of raising chickens and I have never seen one (or any) mourn the loss of another. Curiosity, yes. Usually I have to STOP them from eating the dead bird so I can bury it.

Maybe I just lack the ability to transfer human feelings to them..... they're sweet, many have commented on how friendly my birds are - but yeah, they are NOT humans. They're cannibals.

I love my birds, but I can't see personifying them. Sorry for the loss, I hate losing any of my buddies.
