does a hen lay like her mother or father line?

if i were to breed a great laying hen and a more meaty rooster that comes from a line of poor laying hens, would they offspring lay like her mother or like her father's line?
also if the hen lays brown eggs and the rooster's lines lay where eggs, when the offspring becomes older what colour eggs would she lay?

as far as i'm aware the cock passes on the charachteristics of the eggs so a white egg strain cock would give the result of pullet offspring laying eggs white or lighter in colour than her mother, the hens pass on size and confirmation , but neither one of them is solely responsible for either traits both birds pass on various traits to the offspring
