Hi all,
I built my coop a little too small for the 4 square foot rule, and while I know they don't need that much space, it would be nice to have it.
My coop is 6' tall, so I was thinking of adding a second floor over half of it, sort of a "loft," which would, in theory, make by coop 12x4 instead of 8x4. I have 11 normal chickens and four bantams.
So...would a loft count as square footage? Meaning, would the chickens use it and still use the space underneath? I can put roosts in both "rooms."
