Solved Does a users award go away if they haven't been on for X amount of time?

I've been wondering because I was looking at 2012 posts on the recognition award thread and some have said something like "oh my gosh! I can't believe I have friend badge! Thanks guys!" Then on their profile it shows no badge and all of the users saying that haven't been on for over 4 years.
After I saw that I've been trying to find out

They won't go away, but when we switched from Huddler to XenForo in 2017, we had to re-apply the awards manually, and there were a lot, so we only re-applied the ones for members that were active recently.
