Does any body else’s flock sound like the are communicating with life on another planet?

So multiple times recently at different times During the day. When there are 3 or more hens in the coup we’ve noticed a strange whistling they all do together. It usually starts with Roostie and then the ladies chime in. It goes on for quite awhile at piercing octaves. I haven’t been able to record it yet. But I’m patiently waiting the chance. What are they doing? Sometimes I hear this while the ladies are laying and the other night it was at bed time. It’s really cool, but I’m also extremely curious about this behavior.

What kind of chickens do you have? We have two 8-week-old Egyptian Fayoumis who are louder than howler monkeys and make an extremely annoying high pitched whistle.

You could also check to see if there are any predators in your yard. Others in this forum might have more experience, but our chickens make different sounds depending on egg laying, predators, excitement to see treats, etc.

Mine do this!!!! They do it at night when they are all settled on the roost. Not every one “sings” but it’s fun to listen to them. For me, I imagine them singing a lullaby to help them go sleepy-night-night.

I'm pretty sure their send messages to alien life forms, some chickens are pretty far out!

My silkies would make those whistling and cooing sounds when they're content and chatty. Maybe its some sort of self soothing thing they do.
