Does any one no anything about buff orphington, isa Brown,or columbian rock

Hey guys on Saturday we are getting some new chicks and at our local rural king they have buff orphingtons, isa browns,columbian rock and a few other breeds that were straight run which we don't want roosters so we are not even going to mess with that bin. Does anyone no anything about these breeds? If so I would really like to no the following:

How many eggs do they lay each year?

Are they calm or flighty?

What color of eggs do they lay?

Do they like other chickens or do they tend to fight?

Are they rare or common?

And anything else you think that is cool about them or that I need to no. If you would I would love to see some pics of the breeds their eggs etc. thanks for any help

The Breeds section of the forums will tell you all about each type of chicken. Compare them and see what will do best for you. Of the 3 types you mentioned I have owned only the Buff Orpington and only one. Mine didn't lay until she was 10 1/2 months old, however, that is unusually late for the breed. She's calm and gets along well in my mixed breed flock.

I will make sure I check it the breeds section and thanks I thought they were calm and got along well with others but I'm just worried about the other breeds being nice to her

I raised buff Orps for the last five or 6 years. They are awesome layers, and setters. Friendly chickens as well. I love um.

Not in the same pen, but we also had Cochin's. Mainly white. Standard size.

All breeds mentioned are brown layers and should get along well if provided ample room and are raised together.
The Orpingtons are probably the weakest layers from the bunch you mentioned, averaging about 3 to 5 eggs a week. They are very docile, but tend to go broody, cutting into their average production numbers. They will be consistent layers for years though. The ISA Browns are the best layers from what you mentioned, but they tend to be prone to egg production health issues such as egg binding and internal laying. They will lay just about every day, when at peak production, for the first two years or so. Then production will dramatically decline from then, on.
Rocks of any variety make great additions to any flock. They are a great breed, all around. Good layers, fun personality, inquisitive, good foragers.
You won't find truly rare breeds at most feed stores. They usually source from hatcheries that turn out thousands of chicks each week.

thanks that mainly covered everything. Do you no how often rural king changes the breed selection in store? I'm from ohio close to Marion

Just ask them. They should have a list of their chick orders for the season.
