Does Anybody have a problem with this???

I disagree with all this the origin of the chicken was the jungle fowl its nature was to be aggressive because of the predators....a chicken is not the same as a dog we shouldn't treat them as though their that smart....chickens are simple creatures yea they can learn basic things but mainly its just all programed in their brains(example: I can open the gate to the pen 9 tens out of 10 one of them can not figure out how to go though)

My EE rooster is the biggest wimp of all. I did have a BO rooster that was the meanest little cuss I ever met. Killed two of my hens and I caught him in the act of trying to kill a third one. Needless to say I took him right back to my friend and traded him for a hen. I knew full well he was headed for the pot and I'm glad because noone wants a hen killer!! If I ever get another mean rooster he will end up in the pot too.

Now that would be the only time I would do something....Mr. Henry's(My Roo) has gotten one time to kill one of my girls and I'd prob get rid of him...

I expect my rooster to protect his flock (which he does) without being aggressive toward people. I don't tolerate aggression in the rabbits or mice I raise either. Anything that wants to attack a person without just cause is culled permanently. I keep my animals because I enjoy them, not because I like the thrill of going out to care for them and see how many times I can make it back to the house without being attacked. I know with dogs if you have one that is aggressive toward someone, you can be set up for a lawsuit. I wonder if it is the same with an aggressive rooster?

I have to agree with most people who have posted on this thread. I can respect your wishes to keep what animals on your property as you wish, but if a roo were to ever spur me, even once, he would be dead before nightfall. I know there are quite a few people on here that think a roo can be reformed, but too many more have tried it and it didn't work. Good luck with him and never trust him.

Chickens go mostly on instinct like most birds do.....lets not forget birds are mostly kin to reptiles....so most: Not too bright.....if this is what y'all believe then I respect that...but if this is all true then i better get out there and cull my 5 week old dark cornish pullet (who weighs not even half a pound & barley is tall then my ankle) for trying to flog me lol

Lacey1988,

It is ok to feel the way you do. The taking of another life is troubling; however, chickens have been kept for centuries as a domestic food animal. Those of us that raise them for our meat and eggs respect their contribution. I chose to get chickens to raise for meat, eggs, and to sell to support the cost. I would not breed an aggressive rooster as it is an undesirable trait.
I will not keep nor rehome an aggressive roostet either. If someone is hurt on your property you are liable. This means if your aggressive rooster hurts someone you are liable.

The only good out of an aggressive rooster is how good they taste.

Realize that you don't agree from your other posts and that is ok.

To each their own, but I have absolutely no problem removing any human or hen aggressive rooster from the gene pool. Like begets like.
