Does Anybody have a problem with this???

I'm with the majority and yet, I do not want to breed down those undesirable traits either. Not only kids that you have to worry about but yourself too. What happened when you get a spur into you? Expensive hospital bills particuarly those who does not have any health insurance or can not afford the deductible that it could have been prevented in the first place. Some folks would get the roo a free pass, the ONLY pass he will get. When he does it again, in the stew pot he goes.

And many of us getting older, what if we tripped and fall? Who would get us, you know darn well, who will be the one to be on top of us? The mean roo.

I prefer a rooster that isn't people aggressive but will attack just about anything else that gets too close to the flock. They keep the hens safe. Culling an overly aggressive roo is a good way to keep the line you're working on temperamentally stable. And they taste good too.

My grandkids like to go into the chicken pen and sit and pet the chickens. There will be no aggressiveness tolerated. I haven't had to deal with one yet but am watching a young silkie roo now.

I have 3 roos that have never shown agression toward people, the cats, the dog...and still if my 2 yr old grandson is out. I never let my eyes off that big roo. He usually just avoids people, unless his hens are running for you. It is quite a site. You just never know when that instinct can kick in. I will not have an agressive roo. I had one, once. not any more.

I killed a couple of roosters that started attacking guests and then me !
My chickens are free roam and would have felt no threats!

I won't keep a mean bird, cat, dog, goat, horse or man

When I've bred my mare or female dog, the first quality I looked for in the sire was temperment. Then breed standard, conformation, etc.

Sorry you have a problem with what other folks do with their own animals, on their own land, in the most humane way possible. Just don't read those posts, or post your location and offer to take all the mean roosters

Lots of folks would love to have somewhere to take them!

I understand the risks, and I deal with them we have kids come here all the time I just keep him pinned up when they come over...I NEVER ever let him out with children....I live with a 10 and 7 yr old they know the risks too I told them if they see him out come tell me I can handle him .....Hes not really such a bad roo only this time of year he gets bad I guess its because of the mating season or whatever lol

Lacey, have you tried training him to be a nicer rooster? (for example, carrying him around, or holding him down, to show him you're the alpha rooster.) When mine makes a move at me I flap my arms at him and stomp my feet, and he backs off. But I don't think mine knows how to use his spurs; he just bites, and only when I scare him or mess with his girls. I would be terrified if I had to worry about the rooster stabbing me.
